Miriam Catherine Bradfield (Hoffacker)

On October 15, 2016, Miriam C. (Hoffacker) Bradfield, 93, died at York Hospital. A public viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 21 at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, where a funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 22. Interment is in New Freedom Cemetery. Rev. Katie Brantner will officiate. Miriam was the wife of the late Carlton R. Bradfield. She was born December 29, 1922, to the late George H. and Fannie A. (Klinefelter) Hoffacker in Railroad. Miriam was a 1940 graduate of New Freedom High School. She was a Registered Red Cross First Aid Attendant at the former American Insulator Co. in New Freedom for 17 years. She then worked for the former AMP, Inc. in Shrewsbury for 7 years. She was President of the former Friendly Neighbors who made stuffed animals for children in hospitals and also was a member of the former AARP in New Freedom and the former Sunshine Sisters Sunday School group at Messiah Lutheran Church in Railroad. Miriam was a long-time member of Messiah Lutheran Church where she enjoyed playing the piano and organ. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and playing the piano and organ. Surviving her are her children, Darvis S. Bradfield and his wife Bonnie and Holly K. Shaffer and her husband Steve; grandchildren, Scott and Chris Bradfield and Lauren Myers and Cole Shaffer; great-grandchildren, Landon and Jacob Bradfield, Cheyanne Litvak and Mackenna, Mason and Tyler Myers. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are recommended to a charity of your choice.
