Mitchell Sweeney Kefauver

Mitchell Sweeney Kefauver died peacefully at his home in Felton, PA on July 11, 2022. He was born in York, PA on October 15, 1942, the son of the late Robert and Anne Kefauver and was the loving husband of Joanne McGreevy Kefauver for 56 years. Mitchell grew up on the family farm in Felton, graduated from Kennard Dale High School in 1960 and joined the Army Reserves for 7 years.He retired from Kinard Trucking in 2011 after 48 years as “the #1 driver.”He also spent time working for Orville McCleary Trucking and Allis-Chalmers as a welder. He was a member of Stewartstown VFW Post #7046 and Stewartstown American Legion Post #455. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, making people laugh and many fun times at Mr. Bill’s Quarterdeck, The Great American Saloon or really anywhere Mitchell went the party would follow.His greatest joy was always spending time with family and friends. After retirement, Mitchell and Joanne cherished their winter months in what they called their paradise in Florida for 10 years.He was a great husband, wonderful father and loved his grandchildren.They could always count on their Pop Pop to be their #1 Fan. Mitchell was blessed with a large and loving family.He is survived by his caring wife Joanne; and his children: Michelle MacKeith and husband Don of Coral Springs, FL, Michael Kefauver and wife Kimberly of Port Deposit, MD and Julie Deppen and husband Duane of Felton; 4 grandchildren: Mitchell, Spencer, Jacob and Josephine. He will also be sadly missed by sister-in-law, Lynda Kefauver, brother-in-law, Richard Kinard, brother-in laws: Patrick McGreevy (Martha Ann), James McGreevy (Karen), Thomas McGreevy (Cinthia), John McGreevy (Mary Beth), Robert McGreevy (Pinky), Mark McGreevy (Jodie), Daniel McGreevy (Meg) and sisters in law; Phoebe McGreevy and Colleen McGreevy Stone.He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Kefauver, his sister, Susan Kinard, and his brother-in-law William McGreevy. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc.; 19 S. Main St. Stewartstown, PA 17363for visitation on Thursday, July 14th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.A funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, July 15th at Living Word Community Church 2530 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion, PA 17356. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Normandie Ridge Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation, Memorial White Rose Home Health and Hospice and the compassionate team of care givers that gave him great comfort and joy in his last days of his earthly life at home.
