Nancy Ann (Miller-Ickes) Bowings, beloved wife of Frank W. Bowings Jr. passed away on Thursday, August 12th, 2021, at the age of 78 at home with family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Frank Brenton Miller and Doris Emma (Schneider) Miller. She was predeceased by an older brother, Raymond Miller. In addition to her husband of 22 years, she is survived by her daughters, Stephanie Ickes and husband, Craig Hasener, and Jennifer Ickes and her fiancé, Shaun Axe, and a nephew, Brent Miller. She also leaves behind her two step sons, Todd Bowings (and wife Laura) and David Bowings (and wife Tammy) as well as 5 step grandchildren, Bree, Ryan, Brad, Morgan and Brock Bowings. Nancy was an adamant defender of nature and the environment as well as having the ability to conquer anything that she put her heart to do. She devoted many years to preserving and restoring a log home originally built in the late 1700's where she continued to live until her death. Without any prior knowledge of goats or dairy farming she started her own Goat Dairy Farm producing goat milk and goat cheese with a herd of 100 goats that she milked 7 days a week / 52 weeks a year. Unfortunately, a family situation later required her to give up her dairy farming and embark on a career in Corporate America. She was employed as an office manager with Texas Instruments for 9 years from 1984 until 1993 and then worked for a Danish owned company, FLS Automation, employed as the Human Resources Manager from 1993 until the company closed in 2005 and she retired. While doing all of this, she continued to pursue her interests in collecting antiques, vintage dolls and carnival glass as well as continuing old house restoration, gardening and the love of vintage cars which culminated in her obtaining and restoring her beloved 1968 Mustang convertible which she proudly drove to many car shows as well as pleasure driving. Although Nancy and Frank met and married later in life, they enjoyed a marriage of mutual interests that allowed them to travel to various destinations as well as enjoy their love of antiques, old cars, going to antique shows and attending many antique and estate auctions during their 22 year marriage as well as continuing to restore and preserve the log home that Nancy had worked on most of her life.
