Nancy M. (Wineholt) Tawney, 75, of York passed away on Thursday July 23rd at Colonial Manor in York. She was the loving wife of the late Lawrence E. Tawney, Sr. with whom she was married for over 44 years. Nancy was born in 1944 to Lewis and Elsie (Bull) Wineholt in York. She had a passion for helping others often volunteering with Headstart and the Community Progress Council where she then was employed for an additional 16 years. She was a former member of Red Lion Bible Church. Since her husband’s passing, Nancy was affectionately known by close family and friends as “Blue” due to her extraordinarily fun dyed blue hair. She caught the attention of many due to her bright hair and personality. She will be missed by many family and friends alike. Nancy is survived by her 4 children Rose McKinney, Lawrence Tawney, Jr. and his wife Jessica, James Tawney, David Wineholt and his wife Lisa; a step-son Eugene Tawney and his ex-wife Candy; 9 Grandchildren; 16 Great grandchildren; siblings Larry Krebs, Catherine Krebs, and Carol McCleary; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy is preceded in death by a brother James Wineholt, two sisters Sandy and Pamela Wineholt, and a granddaughter Trista Star Wineholt. Currently all services are private and at the convenience of the family. A public service will be announced in the future.
