Nellie Marie Leedy

Nellie Marie Leedy, 95, passed from this life on Thursday, December 16, 2021. She was the loving wife of the late James A. Leedy who died in 1999. Born in Glace, WV, Nellie was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lillian (Carr) Burns. She was an engraver of industrial metals for many years. She loved Jesus, her family, and cutting her grass. Surviving are five children, Shirley Wilson and her husband, Rick, of Forest Hill, Md., Raymond Boyd and his wife, Denise of Joppa, Md., Rhonda Gottschalk of Fairbanks, Alaska, Elaine McDermott and her husband, Bill of New Freedom, Pa., and James Leedy of Freeland, Md.; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Nellie was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Gottschalk, a grandson, Edward Necker, and a brother, Wilbur Wiley. There will be a viewing on Wednesday, December 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. 2nd St., New Freedom, PA 17349. There will be a second viewing on Thursday, December 23, from 10 - 11 a.m. at Perry Hall United Methodist Church, 9515 Belair Road, Baltimore, Md. 21236 followed by a funeral service honoring Nellie’s life at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Bel Air Memorial Gardens following the service at the church.
