Newman J. Wood

Newman J. Wood, 91, passed from this life on Saturday, March 23, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Norma Elizabeth Wood who passed in December 2022. Born in Falls Church, Virginia, Newman was the son of the late Wilson J. and Lenora Wood.

Newman and Norma lived in New Freedom most of their lives and were happily married for 72-years. Newman was a truck driver for most of his career and was employed by Federal Paper, Fleming Food Distribution, and Crescent Industries up to the age of 80.

Surviving are two children, Joseph Wood and his wife, Teresa and Gail McNew; a grandchild, Logan Wood; and two great grandchildren, Morgan and Quinton McNew. Newman was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark McNew and siblings, Wilson, Grover, Lucille, Margarete, Peggy, Irene, and Velvey.
