Norman Spicer, Sr., 93, passed away at his residence on September 29th, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Freeland, Maryland, on April 7, 1928 to the late Harry N. & Pearl B. (Lentz) Spicer. Norman was the loving husband of 63 years to the late, Lillan (Coppersmith) Spicer. Norman was a mechanic in the automotive industry and loved all things car related. He had his pilot’slicense and owned his own plane. In his younger years, he drove stockcars and his brother, Bill, worked as his mechanic and pit crew. When he grew older, he repaired tractors and lawn mowers and would always look for items to buy and refurbish. Many of his trips to Lancaster included his nephew and best friend, Harry J. ”Jim” Spicer.Norman and Jim were always together. Norman also cherished his time with his grandchildren. Norman is survived by his adoring daughters, Mary E. “Betsy” Wallmuth and Barbara A. Tenne and her husband, David; his 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren; he was pre-deceased by his son, Norman B. “Sonny” Spicer, Jr. and 7 siblings. A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 3rd, from 3:00 pm-6:00 pm and Monday, October 4th, from 11:00 am-12:00 pm at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second Street, New Freedom, PA 17349. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 4th from 12:00-1:00 pm at the Funeral Home with interment immediately following in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
