Patrick Christopher Byers, Sr.

Patrick Christopher Byers, Sr., 68, of Stewartstown, PA, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024. He was the loving husband of Janet Louise Fischer- Byers of Stewartstown, and the loving father to his children: Patrick Byers, Jr. and his wife Jenny, Medina Smith and her husband Bryan, and Jacob Byers. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren Declan, Eliana, Tyler, Aiden, Rylee, Payton, Bryleigh, and Mason; and nine siblings Stephanie, Christine, Dianna, Mary Beth, Timothy, Angela, Christopher, Stephen, and Robert. He was preceded in death by his siblings Victor and Lynn.

Patrick was born on July 9, 1956 in Warren, Ohio and was the firstborn son to the late Wiley and Dorothy (Gaydosh) Byers. He graduated from John F. Kennedy High School and received his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Penn State University. He was a passionate salesman for Rainbow Vacuum Cleaners and handled energy audits for York Home Performance. He also worked as a custodian at a high school in Pittsburgh and at Christian Life Church. In his final years, he thoroughly enjoyed being a school bus driver for students in Baltimore and York County.

He met his wife Janet through their mutual love of music and they were married on May 12, 2012. They recently celebrated twelve years of marriage. Together they traveled to Jamaica, attended mission trips to Kenya, experienced their first cruise, and were each other’s number one support. Patrick was very active in his church, serving at the Stewartstown Food Pantry, and heading up the Helping Hands for the Homeless Ministry, as well as many other ministries.

Patrick enjoyed playing softball, volleyball, basketball, and whitewater rafting. He was a devout Penn State fan, and thoroughly enjoyed attending the sporting events. He had a true Nittany Lion Heart. He stayed active by coaching basketball for the special Olympics, exercising and walking his dog daily. Most of all, Patrick loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was anticipating, with great joy, seeing Jesus face to face.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at 1:00p.m. at the Stewartstown United Methodist Church, 26 S. Main St., Stewartstown, PA 17363. Burial will be in the Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic cemetery in 1751-1867 Hewitt Gifford Rd., SW, Warren, Ohio 44481 on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:00a.m.
