Philip L. Attig, 78, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Born on March 21,1946, Philip was a proud graduate of Susquehannock High School and a life-long resident of Southern York County.
Philip was known for his vibrant personality and his love of storytelling. He had a deep passion for local history and was a wealth of knowledge about the roots and heritage of Southern York County. A devoted member of his church, Philip found great joy in playing the piano during services and generously dedicated his time to supporting his faith community. His deep commitment to his beliefs and the people around him was evident in everything he did. His unique laugh and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Philip cherished his family deeply. He is survived by his sons, Jory (Kathy) and Britton (Diana); grandchildren Jakob (Tabitha), Josie, Joshua (Nayelli), and Carly; and great-granddaughters Amelia and Evelyn. He is also survived by his sister Burnetha Rehmeyer. He was predeceased by his brother Marlin and his lifelong partner, Steve Grove.
Services to honor Philip will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Shrewsbury Lutheran Church; 105 S Main St, Shrewsbury, PA 17361 followed by burial in Shrewsbury Lutheran Cemetery. Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA is assisting the family with arrangements.
Philip’s pride in his family and his enthusiasm for life will be fondly remembered by those who loved him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
