Philip L. "Phil" Eagan

Philip L. Eagan, Jr., 61, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016, at his home. He was the husband of Barbara E. (Diehl) Eagan with whom he had celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on October 16. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 12, at 11 a.m. from the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom with the Rev. Stephen Hershberger officiating. Burial is in New Freedom Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday, November 11, from 7-9 p.m. and again on Saturday, November 12, from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Philip was born November 26, 1954, in Baltimore, Md., a son of the late Philip L. and Margaret E. (Staines) Eagan, Sr. He was employed the past 13 years with Southern York Turf and Tractor of Shrewsbury as a service manager, retiring in 2014. Philip was previously employed at the former Penn Forklift of York as a master mechanic. He enjoyed drag racing, motorcycling, jigsaw puzzles and visiting covered bridges. Philip especially loved his family, children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife Barbara, Philip is survived by a son, Aaron Philip Eagan and his wife, Mindy of York; a daughter, Angie Marie Haugh and her husband, William III of Littlestown; four grandchildren, Madison Rose Eagan, Abby Grace Eagan, Carleigh Elizabeth Haugh and William Edward Haugh IV; a brother, Gregory Eagan and his wife, Cathy of Glenville; and a sister, Loretta Lynn Harris of Felton and her late husband, Randy. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sharon L. Fink.
