Ralph G. Maxwell, 83, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Ralph is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty A. (Blevins) Maxwell. He was born August 4, 1938 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Woodfork H. and Alpha (Peterson) Maxwell. Ralph was a Fire Fighter for the Baltimore County Fire Department. He was involved with University of Maryland Shock Trauma at its founding. In coordination with the trauma center, he developed and taught EMT and CRT courses--the first ever offered in the state of Maryland.After many years working as a Fire Fighter, he retired from that career and began driving a school bus for both Laidlaw and Whitcraft Bus Companies, until his final retirement in 2014. Ralph loved the Lord, was a devout Christian, and enjoyed teaching others about the Bible. Ralph is survived by his wife, Betty A. Maxwell; two children, Michael W. Maxwell (Elisa), and Gary L. Maxwell; one grandchild, Joshua Maxwell (Megan); one great grandchild, Levi Maxwell; and a brother, Joe Maxwell. Ralph was preceded in death by his siblings, Ted Maxwell and Nell Vogel. A public viewing will be held from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Monday, March 28, 2022 at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. located at 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM with interment immediately following in the New Freedom Cemetery, Campbell Rd., New Freedom, PA 17349.
