Raymond W. Schmidt

Raymond W. Schmidt, 86, passed away at his residence, Friday, November 10, 2017. He was the husband of the late Norma Jean (Scott) Schmidt, and the son of the late William A. and Esther (Havener) Schmidt. There will be a visitation on Thursday, November 16, 2017, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main Street, Stewartstown, with a service starting at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Fawn Grove Cemetery, Fawn Grove. Born on February 21, 1931, in Mineral Point, Pa., Raymond proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was a plumber and maintenance man at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., for over 30 years. After retiring, he was a plumber at the Harford County Public Schools, Md. He loved a good poker game and was an avid hunter in his younger years. Surviving are two sons, Douglas E. Schmidt of Fawn Grove, and Michael R. Schmidt, and his wife Jennifer of Delta; two grandchildren, Chandler and Ava Schmidt; a brother, Ralph Schmidt, and a sister, Shirley Thomas, and her husband Nevin. Raymond was preceded in death by his oldest son, Gregory Schmidt, on June 28, 2017.
