Reba B. Gemmill (Barnett)

Reba B. (Barnett) Gemmill, 86, died Saturday, February 20, 2016, at her home. She was the wife of Preston C. Gemmill, with whom she celebrated 65 years of marriage on July 1, 2015. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, at the J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. at the Mortuary with the Rev. Dr. E. Gordon Ross officiating. Interment in Stewartstown Cemetery will follow the service. Born March 29, 1929, in Lower Chanceford Twp., York County, Reba was a daughter of the late Jesse M. and Annie E. (Kilgore) Barnett. She graduated from Red Lion High School in 1946 and was employed many years at the former Stewartstown Manufacturing Co. as a seamstress. Reba was a member of St. John (Sadler's) Lutheran Church in Stewartstown and was a member of the Shrewsbury Lutheran Home Auxiliary, Stewartstown Area Senior Center, and the Eureka Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies' Auxiliary in Stewartstown. In addition to volunteering with these organizations, she was an active volunteer with the Hopewell Fish & Game Association. In addition to her husband, Reba is survived by a son, Wayne A. Gemmill; and a sister, Helen E. Gemmill, both of Stewartstown. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Evelyn L. Lutz, Doris M. Eppley and James E. Barnett, Sr. Memorial contributions in Reba's name may be made to St. John (Sadler's) Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 189, Stewartstown, PA 17363; or to the Stewartstown Area Senior Center, P.O. Box 235, Stewartstown, PA 17363.
