Richard G. Bilger

Richard Guy Bilger, Sr., 93, passed from this life on Saturday, February 15, 2025. He was the loving husband of 69 years to the late Edwina Hope (Jones) Bilger who passed in June of 2020. He was born in Altoona, PA, a son of the late Guy Ellsworth and Emma Kathleen (Lingenfelter) Bilger.

Richard joined the Hereford Volunteer Fire Co. in 1985. He was a life member, Past President, sat on the Board of Directors and numerous committees, worked many fundraisers, was a Delegate to the Annual MD State Firemen’s Assn., and attended the convention in Ocean City, MD, for many years. He joined the Monkton Volunteer EMS in 1970 and was a Medic Unit Driver, EMT, Past Chief, and worked many fundraisers. Richard was the recipient of the Balto. County Vol. Firefighters Assn. 50 Years of Service Award.

He is survived by his sister, Edith Fay Lutz of Stewartstown, PA, a brother, Gregory E. Bilger of Duncansville, PA; his children, Edward William Bilger of Phoenix, AZ, David Scott Bilger Sr. and his wife, Christa of Delta, PA, Mark Andrew Bilger and his wife, Nancy of Hampstead, MD, Paul Herbert Bilger of Leesburg, VA, Kristina Hope Hoerl and her husband, Tom of Rosedale, MD, and Melissa Dawn Ensor and her husband, Greg of Monkton, MD; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Bilger Jr., sisters Isabel Weyant and Kathleen Bilger, and a brother, Norman James Bilger.
