Richard ‘Dick’ A. Clapp, 78, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2020. He was the loving husband of Helen Deetz Clapp and they celebrated 17 years of marriage. Born in Holyoke, Mass., he was the son of the late Robert and Alma Clapp. He proudly served in the US Army from 1959 to 1965. Dick had worked for the Maryland State Highway Administration as a Traffic Signal Control Engineer. Dick was a member of the Stewartstown Senior Center. He had enjoyed his retirement, working in his yard - which he kept very neat- and he loved his family and his dogs. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Surviving in addition to his wife are seven children, Stephen Clapp of FL, Kenneth Clapp and his wife, Victoria of New Freedom, Michael Galliher and his wife, Kathy of Pasadena, Md., Robin Martinez and her husband, David of Stewartstown, Kelley Tanner of Blue Bell, Melissa Breighner and her husband, Frank of Glen Arm, Md., and Matthew Tanner of Glen Burnie, Md.; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.
