Richard “Dick” Eugene Winemiller, 92, of Shrewsbury passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022. He was the husband of Doris Elaine (Walker) Winemiller of Shrewsbury, with whom he shared 72 years of marriage. Born in Hungerford/Shrewsbury to the late Ralph and Frances (Miller) Winemiller. Richard graduated from New Freedom High School; Class of 1948. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1950-1952 and then worked as a machinist for AMP for 33 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the York Hiking Club, Stewartstown Historical Society and St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. His hobbies included gardening, genealogy and raising/showing chickens. He loved the outdoors in whatever he was doing – hunting, fishing or hiking. He also enjoyed watching baseball at Shrewsbury Park and going to his grandkids sporting events. In addition to his wife Doris, he is survived by four of his five children, Nancy Glatfelter and her husband Reuben, Terry Winemiller and his wife Carol, Robert Winemiller and his wife Lorissa, and Lisa Wentz and her husband William; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and one on the way; and his sister Delores. Richard is preceded in death by his daughter Judy Wherley and her husband Henry and three brothers Preston, Wilbur, and Harold. There will be a public viewing on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 6:00-8:00p.m. at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc.; 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349. A Funeral Service will be on Thursday, January 5, 2022 at 11:00a.m. with a viewing one hour prior at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ; 161 S. Main St., Shrewsbury, PA 17361. Interment will follow at Joseph Giesey Memorial Cemetery with military honors provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ at the above address.
