Richard "Chug" Orie Gibbs

Richard “Chug” Orie Gibbs, 74, of Stewartstown, PA passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, October 31, 2024. Born in York, he was the son to the late Orie M. and Hazel J. (Raines) Gibbs. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Brenda S. (Overmiller) Gibbs; two children Andrew Gibbs (Amanda) and Abby Streett (Robert); three grandchildren Ashlyn Danielle Gibbs, Austin David Gibbs, and Hailey Louise Streett; sisters Shirley Ruth, Jackalene Kashner and Paulette Kreiss; and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his sister Patricia McClure, nephew James McClure, and a niece Jamie Zeigler.

Chug graduated from Kennard-Dale High School in 1967. He worked at Caterpillar for over 30 years then retired. After he retired, he went on to work various other jobs to keep himself busy.

He was a member of the Stewartstown Presbyterian Church and a life member of Eureka Fire Co. Chug loved watching Nascar, Penn State, and the Miami Dolphins. He coached Little League baseball, softball, and was a scout master for Boy Scout Troop 151. He was a servant to his community through many organizations. Chug was also everyone’s favorite Santa the last 50 years.

There will be a visitation from 2:00- 4:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Stewartstown Presbyterian Church; 14 College Ave, Stewartstown, PA 17363 with funeral to follow, 4:00 p.m.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Eureka Fire Co., 82 N. Main St., Stewartstown PA 17363 on Thursday, November 7th, 2024, following the funeral.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family at Stewartstown Cemetery.
