Richard G. McKenzie, of Stewartstown, passed from this life on his 77th birthday. He was the loving husband of Karen McKenzie and they celebrated fifty years of marriage on November 3, 2023. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Gordon and Elizabeth Mary (Moffitt) McKenzie.
A graduate of York College, Richard proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He volunteered in Boy Scouts of America as a Troop Leader, was a Youth Coach for baseball and soccer, and played several sports including baseball, golf, water and snow skiing. Richard loved to hike and Geocache.
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife are two sons, Christopher McKenzie and his spouse, Tiffany of Mechanicsburg, and David McKenzie and his spouse, Christian of Stewartstown; 9 grandchildren, Devin (spouse, Taylor), Gabriel, Saige, Dylan, Isabella, Emma, Lauren, Rowan, and Tomás; 1 great grandchild, Scarlett; a sister, Diane Sapp of Baltimore, MD; and a brother-in-law, Larry Bohanan of Berlin, MD. Richard was preceded in death by a brother, Michael McKenzie and by a sister, Edith Bohanan.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, November 10, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, PA 17363. There will be a service with military honors at 10 a.m., Monday, November 13, at Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery, 14205 Pleasant Valley Road N.E., Flintstone, MD 21530.
