Richard C. Mummert

Richard C. Mummert of New Freedom, 84, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023. He was the husband of the late Barbara Jean (Brown) Mummert with whom he was married 52 years. Born in Shrewsbury Township, he was the oldest son of the late Millard A. and Mellie S. (Miller) Mummert. Richard was a member of the Land Improvement Contractors of America, past president of Pennsylvania Land Improvement Contractors of America, member of the Promise Keepers, Gideons International, and an active member of Christian Business Men's Connection. Richard was a volunteer with Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Company for 20 years, achieving the rank of Assistant Chief. He traveled across the East Coast as a team member with Lay Renewal Mission Ministries. He also was a member of both St. Peter’s Church and Shrewsbury Assembly of God, holding various positions over the years. Richard is survived by his three children, Donna Rohrbaugh, Jeffrey A. Mummert, and Steven B. Mummert (Cheryl); 7 grandchildren Meghan (Marcus), Matthew (Ana), Morganne (Austin), Madissen (David), Amber (Adam), Elizabeth (Matt), Cynthia (BJ), 4 great grandchildren, his brother Dale L. Mummert, and daughter-in-law Jeanette. In addition to his parents and wife Barbara, Richard is preceded in death by his two brothers David A. and Floyd L. Mummert and his son-in-law Jeffrey A. Rohrbaugh. There will be a public viewing on Friday, July 14, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA. A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Shrewsbury Assembly of God, 234 N. Main St., Shrewsbury, PA with a viewing one hour prior from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Seven Valleys.
