Richard Lee Weller

Richard was called to Heaven on December 13, 2023, at 2:17 p.m. to bring joy and laughter to the angels. Richard graduated from Hereford High School in 1967. He was a graduate of the University of Baltimore with a bachelor’s in business in 1971.

He was employed by Giant Food through college until he joined the Baltimore County Fire Department June 3, 1972. During his 36 years with the fire department, Richard held the positions of Firefighter/EMT, F.A.D.O. and ADO in Fire Dispatch. Richard loved driving the ladder truck. He is a life member of Maryland Line Volunteer Fire Company. He served as Past President, Past Captain, and many other offices during his tenure of service. Most of all, he loved doing the Turkey and Oyster Dinners.

Richard served on the Baltimore County Board of Elections for 45 years. He was a member of the Southern York County Snowpackers for 15 years, member of Charity Lodge No. 134 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Maryland since 2005, and a member of West Liberty United Methodist Church for over 26 years and enjoyed putting on the Live Nativity. Richard was predeceased in death by his parents, Ethel and Paul Weller Sr. and his brother, Paul Weller Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diana Wood Weller, sister, Peggy Kline, sister-in-law, Rosalie Weller, nephews, Mark Kline, (Godson) and Steven Weller and wife Rosa, niece, Jennifer Hughes and Goddaughter, Cassidy Wilson.

There will be a public viewing on Tuesday, December 19, from 7-9 p.m. at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. 2nd St., New Freedom, PA 17349. There will be a second viewing at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 20, from 10-11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Stablers Church Cemetery.
