Rita R. Brewer

April 21, 1942 — June 1, 2022

Rita R. Brewer, 80, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late Charles J. Brewer for 55 years until he passed in 2018. They married on June 2, 1962, and were reunited forever on the eve of their 60th wedding anniversary. She was born on April 21, 1942 in Escanaba, Michigan to the late Wilbert George and Mildred Marie (Anderson) Rivers. Rita was a lifelong caregiver; and after devoting years to raising her family, embarked on a second career as a nurse's aide at Autumn House. While there, she developed close bonds with many of the residents that she cared for, often inviting them into our family's home to share holidays and special occasions. She was well loved within her work, church and community, and was known for her infectious laughter and gregarious personality. She loved her family and friends deeply, and cherished her time spent in the company of people who shared her faith and values. Her compassion, empathy and generosity was limitless. She was the anchor of our family and will be forever loved and missed. Rita is survived by her children, Laurie Brewer, Kimberly Hutchinson and her husband Rick, Steven Brewer and his wife Sherrie, and Michael Brewer and his wife Allison; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Sean, Catherine, Scot, Tomas and Hannah; a great-grandson, Ian; and one sister, Anita Rivers. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Rivers. Public visitation will be from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Hartenstein Funeral and Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown. A Graveside Service will follow at Stewartstown Cemetery. Pastor Steve Warner will officiate.
