Robert L. Cahoon

Robert Leslie Cahoon, 80, of Red Lion, PA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 19, 2023. Born on June 3, 1943, in Columbia, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Leroy S. and Elizabeth Gertrude (nee Spruill) Cahoon. He was also preceded in death by his step mother, Rachel Cahoon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Etta Cahoon, on July 8, 2023. He is survived by his children, Angela Kim Cahoon, David Cameron Cahoon, Dorcas (Dodi) Joel Warner (nee Cahoon), and her husband, Paul; stepchildren Lisa Jackson, Jay Slagle, and his wife Amy; his brothers and sisters, Cary Cahoon, Christopher Cahoon, Alecia Guillett, Joan Stout, Nancy Wynn, Terry Cahoon, Dale Phelps, Karen Casas, and Brenda Ambrose; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Bob dedicated his life and career to our country. He was a veteran of the Armed Forces. For his service, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, and Meritorious Service Medal. He served honorably in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class. He attained the commission of Captain through the Army Reserve.  After retiring from the Army, his dedication to our country continued with a career in the U. S. Civil Service until his retirement.

Bob was a faithful follower of our lord, Jesus Christ, and a dedicated member of the Stewartstown Baptist Church. He was a Founding Sponsor of the Flight 93 National Memorial, a member of Friends at the Table program, and a supporter of various other charities.

The family will be holding a memorial service to commemorate Bob’s life on Tuesday, August 29th at 4pm at the Stewartstown Baptist Church. In remembrance of Bob, those who wish may make contributions to Friends of Flight 93 National Memorial or Friends at the Table program through Hunger Free York, York County Food Bank.
