Robert G. Fike

Robert George Fike, 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Born in Asher Glade, MD to the late Clyde and Mary (Bowser) Fike, he was the devoted husband of the late Retha Elinor (Fike) Fike. There will be a visitation beginning at 10:00 am followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at St. Peter’s Church, 1708 Seitzville Rd., Seven Valleys, PA 17360 with the Rev. Thomas Beck officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of his family in Friendsville, MD. J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, is assisting the family with arrangements. Robert served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was employed as a supervisor with Mann & Parker Lumber Company in New Freedom for over 30 years. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church as well as the Harrisburg VFW Post and enjoyed gardening. Surviving are two children, G. Samuel Fike and his wife, Nancy of Glenville and Robert A. Fike and his wife, Denise of Shrewsbury, with whom he resided for the last 15 years of his life; a daughter-in-law, Robin Fike of Markleysburg; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and three sisters and a brother.Robert was preceded in death by a son, Edwin L. Fike, and a sister. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to the Least of These Ministries, c/o St. Peter’s Church at the address noted above.
