Robert P. Hamilton

Robert P. Hamilton, 68, died peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2017, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Katherine Viola Hamilton for 47 years. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Robert was the son of the late John and Margaret (Maloney) Hamilton. After moving to Baltimore as a child, Robert graduated from Towson Catholic High School and the University of Baltimore. Robert had a long and successful career in the insurance industry as a Claims Executive, known for client service and leading high profile negotiations and settlements. He and his wife moved to New Freedom in 2000, a community they cherish. After retirement, Robert enjoyed volunteering, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was an active member of St. John the Baptist, Roman Catholic Church. Robert was a genuine, caring man who made friends with everyone he met. His goal was to make at least two people smile everyday. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robert P. Hamilton, Jr and wife, Melissa (Reda) of Falmouth, MA, Shane R. Hamilton and wife, Maria (Eddins) of York and Justin E. Hamilton of York; grandchildren, Kathryn and John of Falmouth, and Estella and Julia of York; siblings, John Hamilton of Stewartstown, Paul Hamilton of Parkville, MD, Margaret Hamilton of Norristown, PA and Nancy Fava of Mt Airy, MD; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitations will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, November 17, with a Vigil service beginning at 7 p.m., at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. The funeral liturgy will be held at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 315 N Constitution Ave, New Freedom, on Saturday, November 18, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Robert's memory to Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Dr., P.O.
