Robert C. Nace

Robert Chester Nace, 92, died Saturday night, February 5th at SpiriTrust Lutheran in Shrewsbury, PA.He was born in Railroad, PA and the son of the late Charles and Effie (McCann) Nace.He was the husband of Loretta (Measley) Nace with whom he celebrated 66 years of marriage just shy of 67 years on February 12th. He is survived by a brother, Charles Elmer Nace Jr., and many nieces and nephews.Robert was preceded in death by his five sisters:Dorothy Caskey, Mildred Myers, Marguerite McWilliams, Ruby Robinson and Hazel Noragong and brother Harry “Bud” Nace. Robert attended New Freedom High School and was drafted into the Army in 1951.He served two years in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1953.Robert worked 18 years for the Bendix Corporation where he made car radios.He spent twenty years as the parts manager with Harry T. Campbell – Genstar and retired in 1992.Bob belonged to the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and served as the financial secretary for over 40 years.He also belonged to the Parkton American Legion and the Hereford Senior Center. Bob and Loretta loved traveling the country in their Airstream trailer.They visited all fifty states, touring the National Parks, Disney and visiting family and friends.They also enjoyed cruises and bus trips.Bob loved his cars and kept them immaculate. Viewings will be held Friday, February 11th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Hartenstein Funeral and Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. 2nd St. New Freedom, PA 17349 and on Saturday, February 12th, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church; 20901 Mt. Zion Road, Freeland, MD. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 12th at 11:00 am at the church with Rev. Dennis Schulze officiating.Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 20901 Mt. Zion Road, Freeland, MD 20153 or to a charity of your choice.
