Ronald W. Berwager, 80, of Seven Valleys, PA, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024. Born in York, Pennsylvania, he was a son to the late Leonard M. and Erma J. (Hersey) Berwager.

Ronald graduated from Susquehannock High School, Class of 1963. He was a proud veteran who served in the United States Naval Reserve during Vietnam. After his three-year term of active duty, he continued in the Naval Reserves, serving more than 20 years before retiring. Ronald also worked for Bell Atlantic Telephone Company for over 30 years. He helped install the fiberoptic cables that were used in Camden Yards many years ago. Ronald was an expert HAM radio operator (WB3KVR) for decades and was part of the York County Amateur Radio Emergency Services.  As a member of M.A.R.S. (Military Auxiliary Radio System), he helped relay messages to and from families of U.S. military personnel stationed around the world.

Ronald had many interests and hobbies throughout his life, but he was passionate about camping and hiking. He used to enjoy visiting lighthouses with his son Steven before his passing. Over the past couple years, Ronald was involved in the ‘Steam Into History’ museum in New Freedom, which he actually helped to open.  He also enjoyed traveling with the Hanover Lancers Drum & Bugle Corps.

Ronald is survived by his daughter; Cristy DeGregory and her husband Nathan; two grandchildren, Emma BuShea, and Haley Marshall; a daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Berwager; and two siblings, Eugene Berwager and his wife Lil, and Lynne Thompson and her husband Garth. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Berwager who passed in 2007; ex-wife Carol L. (Wright), and a niece, Lt. J.G. Laura Mankey.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 3:30 pm at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second, St., New Freedom, PA 17349. Military Honors will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard beginning the service.
