Rosalie T. Roppelt (Kalinowski), 85, of New Freedom, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2024, joining her beloved husband of 58 years, William C. Roppelt, Sr., in eternal rest. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, Rose left an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew her.
Rose was born to the late Stanislaw “James” and Adela (Lentowski) Kalinowski in Baltimore, Maryland. Rose stayed home when her children were younger, taking care of her mother, her children and providing in-home daycare. Later she worked as a nurse aide in Shrewsbury for 10+ years, where she dedicated herself to the care of others with diligence and passion. Along with her professional work, she held many volunteer positions for non-profit organizations within the New Freedom and Shrewsbury communities. Her most cherished moments were spent with her late husband, Bill, at the local diner, where they would engage in conversations with friends and strangers alike.
Rose was a devoted mother to three children and six grandchildren, whom she loved and protected fiercely. She found joy in baking, hosting yard sales, and playing cards with her family, and her passion for sports shone through as she cheered on her children and grandchildren from the sidelines. She also found yelling at the TV during Washington Capitals hockey games to be a relaxing pastime.
Rose is survived by her three children, Christine M. Roppelt-Wilson and son-in-law Robert, and their children Brandon and Kyle; Bill Roppelt, Jr., and his children Felicia and Alex; and Matt Roppelt and daughter-in-law Zoie, and their children Tyler and Isabel. She was predeceased by her husband, Bill, sisters Mrs. Estelle Dziwulski, Mrs. Jane Siemek, Mrs. Sophia Hepner, Miss Jessica Kalinowski and brothers Stanley and Joseph Kalinowski. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, who shall cherish her memory forever.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to a visitation from 11:00 am -12:00 pm Saturday, February 17, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. 2nd St., New Freedom, PA 17349. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm at the funeral home, followed by her interment at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in New Freedom. Her children invite family and friends to celebrate Rose at a small reception in the St. John the Baptist Neuman Hall immediately after the service.
Rose made sure every holiday gathering was special. We honor her by upholding the many traditions she left behind and by living a caring and engaging life.
