Ruth Harriet Walker

Ruth Harriet Walker, 89, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland passed away Thursday, November 10, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late Frederick V. Walker, Sr. to whom she was married 48 years. Born in Athens, WV, she was a daughter of the late Bessie (Pettrey) Shaffer and step-daughter of the late Frank Shaffer.

Ruth retired as a quality control supervisor for London Fog in Baltimore, MD after 35 years of service. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, cleaning, working in the garden, planting and being outside. She especially loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by four children, Debbie White and her husband Christopher, Sr., Sharon LeCompte and her husband Ken Sr., Fred Walker, Jr. and his wife Brenda, and Rita Giordano and her husband Frank; seven grandchildren, Christopher White, Jr., Kenny LeCompte, Jr., Tonya Walker Wagner, Michael White, Eric LeCompte, Craig Walker, and Ashley Dickinson; twelve great grandchildren, Tyler and Caitlyn White, Kiersten and Ashley Shenk, Madison, Braydon, and Jordan Walker, Katelin, Kilby, and Landon LeCompte, Adalyn and Alaina Dickinson; two siblings, Jerry Shaffer and Barbara Engi.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frederick, two infant daughters Donna and Karen Walker, granddaughter Natasha Walker, great grandson Christopher White, III, and two brothers Robert and Paul Shaffer.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Interment will be in Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery, Owings Mills, MD.  Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349 is assisting the family with services.
