Ruth M. Windon

Ruth Windon, 75, of Red Lion, passed away in her home on Thursday, July 28, 2022. Born in Stewartstown, she was the daughter of the late William C. and Elizabeth Marie (Gibbs) Markel. Ruth enjoyed square dancing, reading, and carnivals. She liked going to York Revolution baseball games, concerts in the park, the beach, the casino, and going on cruises. She was active with the American Legion Post 455 Stewartstown and helped run the membership program and activities. Ruth lived for her family, and she was a breast cancer survivor. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Jan Thompson; 3 grandchildren, Benjamen (Cheryl), Robert, and Christina Thompson; 9 great grandchildren; her sister, Sharon Shultz (Brian); and 2 nephews. She was preceded in death by 4 siblings, Wanda, Wilma, William, and Kenneth Markel. A public visitation will be held Saturday, August 6, at 1 pm at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main St. Stewartstown, PA 17363. A memorial service will follow at 2 pm. Interment is at the convenience of her family.
