Sherry Lea Emerick, 68, of New Freedom, Pa passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 in the comfort of home with loved ones by her side. She was the beloved wife of David G. Emerick to whom she was married 46 years. Born and raised in Denver, Colorado she was the daughter of the late Virginia (Slaughter) Melonakis and graduated from North High School. She enjoyed reading, animals, puzzles and traveling with her family and friends. Sherry was active in her community.She had been a special event waitress at the York Country Club, involved in the Welcome Wagon and as a Girl Scout leader and volunteer. Sherry was a bowler off and on for 35 years at Springfield Lanes, enjoyed NASCAR especially the Earnhardts #3 and #88 and visiting different tea houses. Her greatest joy was taking care of her family and creating a warm and welcoming home to all that gathered there. In addition to her husband David, she is survived by two daughters Kristan and Melissa Emerick both of New Freedom, one brother Stephen Melonakis and numerous aunts, cousins, sister-in-law’s and brother-in-law’s. A Time of Remembrance will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 1-4 pm at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. 24 N. Second St. New Freedom. Interment will be private.
