Shirley A. Dema (Burkhamer)

Shirley A. Dema, 68, died Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. She was the loving wife of Edward A. Dema and they celebrated 49 years of marriage in September 2015. A viewing will be held from 7 pm until 9 pm Friday, August 19, 2016, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. There will be a funeral service 11 am Saturday, August 20, at the mortuary with Rev. Robert A. Yohe, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Middletown Cemetery, Freeland, MD. Born December 4, 1947, in Kingsport, TN, Shirley was the daughter of the late Guy and Betty (James) Burkhamer. She had been a floral designer at Flowers by Jane, formerly of Shrewsbury. Shirley enjoyed reading, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, and the outdoors. Surviving in addition to her husband are two children: Edward A. Dema, Jr., and his wife Susan of New Oxford, and Betty D.
