Steven R. Parks, age 73, of Stewartstown passed away in the comfort of his home on November 3rd 2024. He was the son of the late Roy E. and Elayne E. Parks.
Steve was born in Havre De Grace, MD, on July 19, 1951. He was raised and lived in Stewartstown all his life, graduating from Kennard-Dale in 1969. As a young man he had a love of fast cars and the races he would get in with them, which he loved to share stories of. As he grew older his passion for building things spawned into a thriving log home business. Steve built his business while helping his parents take care of the family dairy farm. He was an avid farmer settling into a job he truly loved, working before the sun came up and long after the sun went down. He never complained, his happy, calm, open-minded demeanor formed many bonds throughout the farming & building communities and otherwise. His intelligence and passion coming as an added bonus.
There wasn't a place he went that he didn't know someone, often turning short trips into little adventures because he ran into “so and so." He had a knack for being a great conversationalist and he loved to share it. After the family farm became unsustainable, Steve got back into the construction business and would often spend late nights in his woodshop tinkering and building new things. He had a brilliant mind for putting things together and a love for wood working which he greatly enjoyed passing down to his two oldest grandchildren. If ever asked what his greatest accomplishment in his adventurous and fulfilling life was, he’d give the same answer every time, his family. If asked what he lived for he would tell you his kids, grandkids and great grandkids, a statement that was not just words to him but he had proven to be an actual way of life. When one of them called, he would be there day or night. Whether it be to help with a broken down car, fix a leaky pipe, or to help them out of a little trouble, he would show up, correct them when he needed to but never leave their side or judge them for their choices. He was a safe space for all his children, always being there to confide in and go to for trusted advice and strength, even when they were wrong.
Steve was a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, father-in-law, father grandfather, and Daddypop. He is survived by three daughters, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Daughters Heather Wiegand and husband Chuck Wiegand of Stewartstown, April Dunnett of North Carolina, and Stephanie Parks of Littlestown. Grandchildren Amber Masciocchi and Corey Neeper both of Stewartstown, Marlena Dunnett of York and Issac, Ezra and Asa Dorsey of Hanover. Great grandchildren Scarlette and Arabella Masciocchi and Hunter Neeper all of Stewartstown.
He is also survived by his siblings Diana Rohrbaugh and husband Donnie Rohrbaugh of Stewartstown, Mary Greek and husband David Greek of Delta, brother in law Mark Jenkins of New Park and Thomas Parks and wife Jennifer Parks of Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sister Patricia Jenkins of New Park and son in law Robert Dunnett of York.
