Thelma Driver

Thelma V. Driver, 81 of Manchester went home to be with the Lord, grandmother King and little Theador on Friday September 20, 2019. She leaves behind her husband of 58 years J. Ferdinand “Ferd” Driver, Jr. Thelma was born to Elmer and Florence (King) Ford in Baltimore and she attended Kenwood High School where she met her future husband J. Ferdinand Driver, Jr. She graduated from Towson College with a degree in Education that provided the foundation for her long career working for the Baltimore County Board of Education. She served as a teacher, administrator and consultant. Music also shaped Thelma’s life, whether singing on the radio as a child or as a dedicated member of her church’s choir. In addition to her husband Ferd, Thelma is survived by her sons Joe Driver and his wife Rebecca of Dallastown, PA and Steve Driver and his wife Lisa of Valparasio, IN; grandchildren Josie, Zachary, Matthew, Nathaniel, and Zoë Driver; step-grandchildren Amanda Usilton and Christopher Zdanis; great-grandchildren Dominick Michael Schaffer. Jr. and Brandon Michael Usilton; and numerous family and friends. A visitation will be held at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc. 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, Pa on September 27th from 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held at Maryland Line United Methodist Church 21500 York Road, Maryland Line, MD on Saturday September 28 at 10 AM with Rev. Dennis Schulze officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the Baltimore Cluster Food Bank. Contributions can be sent to Maryland Line UMC in the care of Ferd Driver, Jr. at the above listed address.
