Thomas Edward Middleton

Edward Middleton, 95, died Monday, February 5, 2018 at SpiriTrust Lutheran Village at UTZ Terrace, Hanover. He was the husband of the late Cherie (Kiefer) Middleton to whom he had been married 66 years at the time of her passing. Following cremation, a Funeral Liturgy will be held at a future date at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New Freedom. Ed was born January 24, 1923 in Baltimore, MD. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and was a 1948 graduate of Loyola College. Ed was a career agent of 22 years with Massachusetts Mutual Life Ins. Co. retiring in 1990. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in New Freedom. Ed joined the Baltimore Lions Club in 1968 and remained an active member throughout the years. He also was Past President. Ed played saxophone in various big bands in Baltimore and SC, also playing for the Baltimore Colts Marching Band and during his service in the U.S. Navy. Ed is survived by three sons, Ted Middleton and wife, Sally, Del Mar, CA, Jay C. Middleton and wife, Linda, Dagsboro, DE, and John G. Middleton and wife, Torre, Solana Beach, CA; one daughter, Laurie Johnson and husband, Troy, New Freedom; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn P. Norwood; and a brother, Luther S. Middleton. He was predeceased by a son, Louis W. Middleton; a sister, Mary Emilie Madeira; and a brother, John F. Probst.
