Vada L. (Gantz) Wantland

Vada L. (Gantz) Wantland, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 24, 2023. Vada was born in Glen Rock, PA, December 4, 1927 to Grover E. and Ethel M. (Waltemyer) Gantz. She was the wife of the late Harold E. Wantland to whom she devoted herself for 64 years. Vada graduated from Glen Rock High School in 1945. While in school, she played clarinet in the band and after graduation she played in the Glen Rock Band. She was a member of Grace Church for 70 years, and was their oldest active member. She worked at Sieling Furniture Company for 28 years and Reliance Motor Coach Company for 16 years, both in Railroad, PA, before retiring in 1992. She was an active member of the VFW Auxiliary, also serving in their district offices. She was a member of Glen Rock American Legion. Vada enjoyed class reunions, family gatherings, senior luncheons at Grace Church, and widow and widower group activities. She is survived by Harold's sister, Evelyn McCormick and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, three brothers W. Earney, Carroll E., Preston O. Gantz and two sisters Miriam L. Thoman and Hilda R Knapp. There will be a viewing on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. from Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, PA 17349. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 noon on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
