Valda J. Tull

Valda Jean (Vanover) Tull, 75, of Quarryville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. She was the loving wife of John W. Tull, M.D., for 39 years. She was born in Stewartstown on November 26, 1948 to the late Conley and Olive (McCleary) Vanover. She graduated from Kennard-Dale High School, Class of 1966.

After graduation she started her career as an Optician, continuing her education to become board certified. Later, she was able to fulfill her dream by purchasing West End Opticians in York, PA with her husband, John. They were the founding members of the Ocular Heritage Society. She retired after 48 years in the business.

Valda loved her family, she enjoyed her work, antiques and all the traveling she and John did around the world. She had a strong faith that was present in all she did.

She is survived by her husband, John W. Tull, M.D.; step daughters, Heather (Tull) Post, and Melanie (Tull) Conley; a brother, Glenn Vanover and his wife, Marcia; sister in law, Beverly Vanover; many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and a great grandchild. Valda was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Joyce (Vanover) Gibbs, Francis Vanover and Bonnie (Vanover) Comer.

Family and friends are invited to a public visitation at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, PA 17363 on Friday, October 25, 2024 from 11 am – 1 pm, with a funeral service starting at 1 pm. Interment will immediately follow the service in the Stewartstown Cemetery.
