Vivian R. Ford (Hammond)

Vivian Ruth Ford, 82, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at home. She was the devoted wife of Herbert P. Ford, and they celebrated 41 years of marriage on September 13, 2015. A viewing will be held from 3-5 & 7-9 P.M. Sunday, February 14, at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom. There will be a funeral service Monday, February 15 at the funeral home at 11 A.M. with Pastor John W. Manry officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Born October 9, 1933, in White Hall, MD, Vivian was the daughter of the late Harry E. and Berkley (Peeling) Hammond. Vivian enjoyed crocheting, gardening, baking, sewing, knitting, and birdwatching. Her passion in life was spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her husband are four children: Deborah Gardner, White Hall, MD; Dean Gardner, husband of Elaine, of New Freedom; Tammy Brandt, wife of Charles, of White Hall, MD; and Margie Fortune, wife of Michael, Jarrettsville, MD; a step-daughter, Terri Detomas, wife of Dave, of Brogue, PA; 12 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; a sister, Betty Hammond, Parkton, MD. Vivian was preceded in death by two sisters, five brothers, and two grandchildren.
