William Lloyd McCraney, 87, of New Freedom, Pennsylvania passed away on April 29th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones.
He was the loving husband of Barbara V. McCraney of New Freedom.
Lloyd was born August 19, 1936, in Lancaster City, son of the late Wendell M. and Madeline E. (Riley) McCraney.
In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his daughters Danielle Kooystra her husband Siebe , Dawn Crockett and her husband Steve, and his son Shawn McCraney, eight grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce Mumma and her husband Joe Mumma.
Lloyd graduated from Penn Manor High School, the American University, the Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Maryland School of Law. His career began as a social case worker with the Baltimore City Department of Social Services. This was followed by more than half a century of teaching. Beginning with the Baltimore City Public Schools in special education and later in adult education. He then taught and chaired the Psychology Department at Baltimore City Community College. He completed his teaching career in the Psychology Department of Towson University. He retired in the Fall of 2013 from Towson University.
Lloyd enjoyed being with his family where he enjoyed making them laugh with his many jokes. He enjoyed his motorcycle, and the beauty of nature.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, May 24th at 1 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church, 175 East Main Street, New Freedom, PA 17349.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to charities to help feed the underprivileged.
