On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, Wilbur B. “Teddy” Belt, Sr. passed away at home in New Oxford, PA.Teddy was born on November 18, 1952 in Towson, MD to the late Clarence W. and Hazel (Carr) Belt Peterson. He was a fire fighter and retired from Baltimore City Fire Department after 30 years of service.He had also volunteered for numerous other fire departments throughout his lifetime.Teddy was currently employed at Wal-Mart in North Hanover.He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #720 in McSherrystown, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Hanover, the Masonic Lodge #175 in Manchester and the Hanover First Church of God.In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving him are his children, Wilbur B. “Willy” Belt, Jr. and his wife, Amy and Terry Lankford and her husband, Jimmy; 7 grandchildren, Brianna, Nathan, Tyler, Ethan, Jacob, Joseph and Kody; companion, Vicki Bly; and brothers, Wayne and wife Marge Belt and William Belt. Teddy is preceded in death by his parents and a step-father, Louis Peterson. Public viewings will be from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm on Tuesday, August 21 at Hartenstein Funeral and Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, where a funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, August 22.Interment is private.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are recommended to the Baltimore City Fire Department Widows and Orphans Fund, 1202 Ridgely Street, Baltimore, MD 21230.Checks can be made to the W&O Fund.
