William T. “Bill” Bankert

William T. “Bill” Bankert, 67, of Stewartstown, passed away on July 6, 2021.He was the husband of Cheryl (McClain) Bankert to whom he shared 42 years of marriage and the loving father of Kimberly “Kim” Bankert, both of Stewartstown. He is also survived by his brother Arthur “Butch” Bankert and wife Mary of Fawn Grove and sister Grace Ann “Annie” Matthews and husband Don of Stewartstown. Bill was born in Harford County, Maryland, to the late Arthur J. and Grace Ann (Edwards) Bankert. He graduated from Kennard-Dale High School, Class of 1971 and was employed with the former Consolidated Freight in Carlisle for over 20 years, retiring in 2002.Bill loved going to car shows with Kim and showing her Mustang, doing burnouts in anything with 8 cylinders, and being with his best buds TJ and Donny. He was an avid NASCAR fan, a Mustang enthusiast and really enjoyed all types of racing. Bill enjoyed playing the drums and listening to old Rock music and local bands. He also enjoyed putting car models together and collecting die-cast Nascar models. He specially cherished his Huskies Kahne and Maya and late loves Lucy and Rickki. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
