On Sunday, March 27, 2016, William L. “Bill” Copenhaver, Sr., 74, died at his home with family by his side.Public viewing will be held from 7-9pm on Wednesday, March 30 at J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second Street, New Freedom, where a funeral service will take place at 11am on Thursday, March 31.Interment will follow in Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Freeland, MD.Rev. Melissa A. McDade will officiate. Bill was born September 24, 1941 in Rayville, MD to the late Mary Ann (Matthews) and Quentin E. Copenhaver, Sr.He was the husband of Dorothy C. “Dottie” (Miller) Copenhaver for 30 years. Bill was an auto mechanic, starting his career at Brodbeck Chevrolet, then worked at Five Town Motors in Shrewsbury for 6 years, and also AMF of York.He finished his career working for Sotdorus Motors in Glen Rock for 34 years.Bill was also a member of Oakland Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife; two sons, William L. Copenhaver, Jr. and Michael L. Copenhaver; one step-daughter, Michelle Smith; seven grandchildren, Mekayla Copenhaver, Brad, Brittany, Troy, Kierstin, Eric and Allyssa Smith; two step-grandchildren, Luis and Eva Fermin; one sister, Mary Ruth Helman and one brother, Charles Edward Copenhaver. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Quentin E.
