William B. Ridley

William B. "Bill" Ridley, Jr., 83,died Thursday, August 11, 2016 at ManorCare South, York. He was the husband of the late Eileen M. (Benoit) Ridley. A graveside service will be held 3:30 pm Monday, August 15 at St. John the Baptist Cemetery 315 N. Constitution Ave. New Freedom with full military rites by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born September 24, 1932 in Glen Rock, William was the son of the late William B. Ridley, Sr. and the late Myrtle V. (Matthews) Ridley. He was veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. He retired from Stone Container of York in 1994 after 25 years of service and was previously employed for 20 years with the former Charles G. Summer, Inc. as a Field Foreman. He was a PA State Class G Horseshoe Pitching Champion in 2004 and 2006. He also was a member of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association and a member of Mt. Wolf Fish and Game Association. Bill is survived by 2 sons, Lawrence J. Ridley and Terrance W. Ridley; a step-son, Joseph L. Benoit; 2 step-daughters, Anna Marie Bamburg and Melvina A. King; 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary E. Rosier. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 3511 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17110 or the American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Ave., York, PA 17403.
