On Thursday, March 14, 2019, William “Bill” M. Ruffin, 87, passed away at Country Companions Assisted Living in Taneytown, MD.He was born on June 29, 1931 in Millboro, VA.A very patriotic man who loved his country, William proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War Era.He was an active member of the Habitat for Humanity and was a member of the American Legion Post #945.Although Bill kept to himself most of the time, he was kind and well known for helping others within his community.In the winter he was known to shovel many of his neighbors’ driveways and sidewalks.He also enjoyed growing vegetables in his back yard and would set out vegetables free for the taking.His peach, apple and cherry trees made great pies.Bill loved trains.He was also known for his smile and laughter.Most importantly, Bill received salvation at the age of 87. Bill is survived by one son, William M. Ruffin; a niece, Sandra Danette DiPietro and her husband Vincent L.; one sister, Geneva Ruffin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his mother, Cassandra (Alexander) Ruffin; one sister, Delores Ruffin; and one nephew, Dennis Sweeney. A funeral service will begin at 3pm on Saturday, March 23, at Antioch Baptist Church, 18954 Ridge Meadow Road, Stewartstown, PA 17363.Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.Pastor Dan Warner will officiate.In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are recommended to the Grace Fellowship Church Food Bank, 74 E.
