William Boyd "Will" Tillman

William "Will" Boyd Tillman, 66, died Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at home. He was the loving husband of Debbie L. (Mays) Tillman and they celebrated 39 years of marriage in February of 2016. There will be a memorial service celebrating Will's life on Saturday, January 28, 2017 (for more information, call or text 717-309-6468, or contact Ms. Holly Tillman on Facebook). J.J. Hartenstein Mortuary Inc., 19 S. Main St., Stewartstown, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Born in Towson, Md., Will was a son of the late Edward A. Tillman, Sr. and Dorothy May (Moseley) Tillman. He attended Harford Community College. Will studied with Atwood Hess of Gettysburg, learning the art of Windsor chair making and then studied with Enrico Liberti of Baltimore, learning the art of inlay and making miniature furniture. He was mostly self-taught, creating some of the finest furniture ever made in America. He began making snare drums, then drum sets; again, the best in the world. He was a gifted chair and cabinet maker, operating his small business, Drummers Dream. His interests included vintage cars, especially MGs, and his favorite places included the Outer Banks and Knoebels. Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Holly Tillman of Parkton, Md., and her fiancé, Nick Dowd of Chicopee, Mass., Tench Tillman, and his girlfriend. Mackenzie Nelson of Stewartstown; one grandson, Sebastian; his mother-in-law, Sis Mays-Kelbaugh; two brothers, Ed Tillman II, and his wife, Cindy, of Monkton, Md., and Walt Tillman, and his wife, Bonnie, of Mt. Dora, Fla. Will is also survived by four nieces, Michelle Price, Jennifer Ralston, Linda M. Jenkins, and Julie Mays; and three nephews, Joseph Tillman, Jim Jenkins and Brandon Mays; a brother-in-law, Danny Mays II; and sister-in-law, Vicki Mays. Will was preceded in death by a nephew, Andrew Tillman III; father-in-law, Gilbert Mays; and sister-in-law, Nancy Jenkins.
