Michael P. Eden

Michael P. Eden, 54, of New Freedom passed away Monday, December 27, 2021 at WellSpan York Hospital. Born in York, he was raised by mother Darene M. (Hamme) Mays and step-father LeRoy “Butch” Mays, Jr. and was the son of Michael E. Eden. Mike graduated from York Vo Tech and completed his apprenticeship at Main Tool in New Freedom. He founded Eden Tool Company in 2000 where he specialized in high precision plastic injection molds and was a certified mold maker. He was a great father, businessman and friend to all. Mike was born and raised in New Freedom and enjoyed making people laugh. He was caring, selfless and an innovator in his field. He was unique, life of the party and was a member of Good Guys Association and the NSRA. He was known by many as “Big Mike” and was an avid hot rod enthusiast and loved supporting his children and watching their sporting events. Mike is survived by his two children Jacob “Jake” Eden and Rachel Eden both of New Freedom; step-father LeRoy “Butch” Mays, Jr. and his half-siblings Scott Eden, Nicole Chalk and Ashley Eden; one step sister Melissa Dawson and many business colleagues and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, January 7, 2022 at 1PM from the New Freedom Community Center, 150 E. Main St., New Freedom. Interment will follow in the New Freedom Cemetery. Viewings will be held Thursday, January 6 from 6-9pm at the New Freedom Community Center and on Friday from 11am until the time of the service at the New Freedom Community Center. Mike was always a casual guy so wear your favorite Eden Tool Co. gear or your favorite hot rod t-shirt and jeans. Mike was passionate about American mold building and passing it on to the next generation, so in lieu of flowers, a memorial fund for Mike has been set up to gift a tool box to starting apprentices.
