Orus J. Cavnor

Orus J. Cavnor, 78, of York passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy. He was the loving husband of the late Susan C. (Hilgartner) Cavnor who passed away in 2019. Born in Brooklyn, NY he was a son of the late Orus E. and Gladys (Metzsching) Cavnor. Orus worked for Western Electric/AT&T for 35 years prior to his retirement and later worked at the Shrewsbury Wal Mart for 20 years. He was a current member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in York and a former member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Freedom where he served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. As a younger man, he was a talented drummer in several New York drum corps. He enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles and drinking beer. He is survived by three daughters Kathleen, wife of Doug Weichert, Eileen Cavnor and Christine, wife of Jake Ciecka; three step-children Gregory Guerin and wife Sheryl, Linda Kopp and Sean Guerin; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother Gerard Cavnor. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist 315 N. Constitution Ave., New Freedom, PA 17349 on Monday, Dec. 21 at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at the adjoining church cemetery.
