Shirley E. Weichert

Shirley Eileen (Kohler) Weichert, 84, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 12, 2019.She was the wife of the late Donald Weichert.She was born on November 26, 1934 in Felton to the late George and Helen (Rinehart) Kohler. She was a 1953 graduate of Susquehannock High School and was a member of the New Freedom Baptist Church and Exalting Christ Chapel.Although she did not work outside the home, she lovingly raised her family, cared for the sick, and babysat many children.She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by her children, Dennis Weichert and wife Sue of Glen Rock, Debra Altland and husband Jerry of Thomasville, and Donna Cox and husband Greg of New Freedom; two grandchildren, Abby Madigan and husband Jeb, and Jacob Weichert and wife Randi; and two great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Levi. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and five siblings. Public viewing will be from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, May 15 at Hartenstein Funeral and Cremation Care, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 16 at 10:30am.Interment will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York.Rev. Michael Hopkins will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the New Freedom Baptist Church, 851 Campbell Road, New Freedom, PA 17349.
